What to Expect

NORTHERN PIKE –  Chasing pike in the spring can be fun, but there’s nothing better than our fall fishing.  Big Rods, big flies, big fish.  Plain and simple. Our goal is to provide you with great gear and a great experience while sharing our knowledge of the waters and showing you the techniques we use to chase trophy Northern Pike with a fly rod.

COMMON CARP –  What’s better than 50 shots in a day at feeding fish?  Try 100.  The target rich environment will not disappoint.  If you can cast 40+ feet to a 3 foot target, we’ve got the boats and the experience to get you on fish after fish during the warmer months of the year.  And if you can’t – there’s no better place to practice than on the platform of one of our skiffs.

We typically target Northern Pike from the time the lake opens up in the spring until the water temps start approaching that 65 degree mark.  Rarely is our spring fishing hot and heavy.  Our window for those larger pre-spawn/post-spawn females is very short.  But the smaller males definitely get aggressive.  In the spring we can also find a few walleye, a handful of crappie, and some windows of pretty good smallmouth bass fishing.

As the water warms up we shift our target to carp and have a little fun through the summer months.  Our carp fishing truly is amazing.  The weather is nice.  It’s non-stop technical fishing.  The fish reward a great cast with unbelievable eats and the best fight in the lake.  If you’re an avid fly fisher and you’ve never targeted carp, you have no idea what you’re missing.  Or maybe you’ve just struggled to be successful at it.  There’s an art to it, and we’d love to show you how to consistently feed these awesome fish.

Fall means shorter days, cooler temperatures and bigger fish.  Northern Pike fishing will ramp up again through the month of October.  Some of our best days of fishing are in October.  It’s always nice to sprinkle in a few walleye and bass as well.  But if you’re looking for that true trophy Northern Pike, 40 inches and larger, circle the month of November on your calendar.  Bring your hand warmers and come ready to cast 12 inch flies with 10-12 WT rods. This is our specialty.
